Two major national health projects under the Ayush Ministry worth Rs 1000 crore has been sanctioned for Goa, with Union Ayush Minister Sripad Naik on Saturday saying work on these projects will be tendered in the current month.
Speaking to media on the sidelines of the “Destination Goa 2018” organised by the Aavishkaarr Exhibition and Promotion Pvt Ltd at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, the Union Ministry said the two national institutes of Ayurveda, besides Yoga and naturopathy will be set up in Goa at a cost of Rs 1000 crore.
“The Yoga and Naturopathy National Institute will comprise of a research, 100-bedded hospital, OPD, education, college and post-graduation. This national institute will attract tourists in a big way to Goa”, Sripad said.
Similarly, he said the Ayurveda national institute will comprise of a 100-bedded hospital, research and a college which will impart education to students. “The Ministry is expecting to take possession of the land required for the two national projects within 10-15 days”, he said, adding that the government will tender work on the project after the land comes in possession of the government.
In the meantime, the Union Ayush Minister said that two district hospitals under the Ayush Mission will be set up in North and South Goa this year. The North Goa hospital will be set up at Sankhalim, he added.
Meanwhile, addressing the Destination Goa 2018 at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on Saturday, Sripad Naik said that such exhibitions help to display the strength of the country to the future generations. “The country has made rapid strides in all spheres of life. However, not many know the achievements of the country and only such exhibitions help to bring before the people the strength and achievements”, he added.
Asked to comment on the Jack Sequeira’s statue controversy, Sripad said BJP has taken a stand and that there’s no need for rake up the issue settled around 50 years ago.
